Oberleutnant Fritz Dinger


Dinger nació el 20 de agosto de 1915 en Ottweiler (Saar) y se unió a la Luftwaffe antes de la guerra dónde recibió entrenamiento como piloto de caza. En agosto de 1939 fue enviado al 4./JG 53 con el rango de Unteroffizier. Con esa misma unidad participó en la campaña de Francia y la batalla de Inglaterra durante el verano de 1940. El 16 de agosto de 1940 fue derribado a 50 Km al norte de Cherburgo y rescatado por el servicio de rescate aéreo alemán. El 1 de noviembre de 1940 fue ascendido a Leutnant. Con la invasión alemana de Rusia fue enviado junto a su unidad logrando su primera victoria el 1 de julio de 1941.

A finales de septiembre ya había alcanzado un total de 11 victorias sobre aparatos soviéticos. El 5 de octubre su Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-4 (W.Nr. 7187) resultó dañado en combate aéreo y tuvo que realizar un aterrizaje forzoso cerca de Solugubowka, en esta acción Dinger resultó herido. En octubre de 1941 el II./JG 53 fue trasladado a la costa del Mar del Norte, a Leeuwarden (Holanda). El 27 de octubre derribó un bombardero de la RAF Blenheim que se convirtió en su victoria número 12.

En diciembre de 1941 el II./JG 53 fue enviado a Sicilia dónde derribó seis cazas de la RAF durante los combates en Malta. El 26 de julio de 1942 Dinger fue transferido al I./JG 53 asignado a la 1 Staffel. Durante los meses de verano de 1942 Dinger derribó 30 aparatos soviéticos, 29 de ellos abatidos del 1 al 22 de septiembre. El 15 de octubre fue nombrado Staffelkapitän del 4./JG 53, de nuevo basado en Sicilia. El 23 de diciembre y con 49 victorias en su haber recibió la Ritterkreuz y fue promocionado al rango de Oberleutnant. El 6 de junio de 1943 alcanzó su victoria número 60 al derribar un Spitfire sobre el mar. Dinger resultó muerto por la metralla de las bombas durante un raid aliado sobre Scalea el 27 de julio de 1943. Había logrado 67 victorias, 41 de ellas logradas sobre los aliados occidentales.

Dinger was born on August 20, 1915 in Ottweiler (Saar) and joined the Luftwaffe before the war, where he trained as a fighter pilot. In August 1939 he was sent to 4./JG 53 with the rank of Unteroffizier. With that same unit participated in the French campaign and the Battle of Britain during the summer of 1940. The August 16, 1940 was shot down 50 miles north of Cherbourg and rescued by the German air rescue service. On November 1, 1940 he was promoted to Leutnant. With the German invasion of Russia was sent with his unit achieved its first victory on July 1, 1941.

In late September it had reached a total of 11 victories against Soviet aircraft. On October 5, the MesserschmittBf 109 F-4 (W.Nr. 7187) was damaged in aerial combat and had to make an emergency landing near Solugubowka in this action Dinger was injured. In October 1941 the II./JG 53 was transferred to the North Sea coast, Leeuwarden (Netherlands). On 27 October, he shot down a RAF Blenheim bomber that became his 12th victory.

In December 1941, II./JG 53 was sent to Sicily where downed six RAF fighters during fighting in Malta. On July 26, 1942 Dinger was transferred to I./JG 53 assigned to the 1st Staffel. During the summer of 1942, 30 Soviet aircraft shot down Dinger, 29 of them killed 1 to September 22. On October 15 he was appointed Staffelkapitän of 4./JG 53, again based in Sicily. On December 23 and 49 victories to his credit he received Ritterkreuz and was promoted to the rank of Oberleutnant. On June 6, 1943 it reached its 60th victory by downing a Spitfire over the sea. Dinger was killed by shrapnel from the bomb during an Allied raid on Scalea on 27 July 1943. He had achieved 67 victories, 41 of them achieved over the Western Allies.


Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-4 (W.Nr. 7187) days later the accident. The power plant has already been withdrawn.
